Chocolate Sponge Cake

 

A very easy peasy recipe for making cake when the cravings set in!!

Recipe adapted From Yummy on YouTube and modified by me.


Makes a 7” inch sponge cake

Ingredients

2 eggs (substitute 1/2 cup curd or 1/2 cup condensed milk) *if u r using condensed milk then u have to use 1/2 cup sugar not the measurements mentioned here

2/3 Cup + 1/8 Cup Powdered Sugar or Super fine sugar

½ Cup Oil

¾ Cup All Purpose Flour

¼ cup cocoa powder

1 tsp Baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp Vanilla essence

¼ cup Milk

 

Method:

Pre-heat oven to 160 C

In a broad and deep vessel, beat the eggs using electric beater for 2-3 mins till the eggs turn frothy. (In case of curd, use hand whisk to beat the curd

Add the sugar and beat for 1-2 mins again.

Add oil and vanilla. Beat again for 1-2 mins. Keep the blender away.

Now sieve all the dry ingredients one at a time. Sieve the All purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda.

Mix well using spatula. Now add the milk gradually and mix just till everything is combined.

Empty this batter in a 7” well coated tin.

Bake at 160 for 30-40 mins till toothpick comes out clean.
